Durban event planner’s post to help colleague goes viral

WHEN Durban-based event planner, Charlene Wannenburg shared a post seeking work for her colleague, Sphesihle Mshibe on social media she did not expect the post to go viral.

But the online community pitched in to show their support by sharing the post more than 500 times to help get the word out.

The post has also racked up more than 130 reactions since it was shared on Tuesday (12 January).

Mshibe lives off Queen Nandi Drive in the north Durban area, said Wannenburg.

“He supports his whole family. He’s the bread winner for his family, so that’s why I am trying to help him,” she added.

In the post, she had called for the community to help find Mshibe a job, writing that he is her “right-hand man”.

“He helps me with all my setups, he loads, offloads, folds napkins, deleafs flowers, places vases, the works. As the event industry has come to a halt, I unfortunately do not have any work for my guy. If I could hire him to do more, I would. His full-time job has also unfortunately failed. He was employed as a general worker /domestic cleaner and their contracts have now come to an end,” she wrote.

Mshibe is able to travel to Glenwood, Morningside, Westville, Springfield, Pinetown and Durban North for work.
