Durban North school to host blood drive

AS the country faces a national blood shortage, Chelsea Preparatory School has taken it upon themselves to assist the South African Blood Service (SANBS) by holding a blood drive at the school on Friday, November 19 from 7:00.

The drive takes place at the main field and is accessible from the gate in Brooklands Crescent.

“Our aim is to make a difference in our community and help those in need. A small donation of your blood can save somebody’s life.” said Leigh Holland, a teacher and environmental service committee member at the school.

With the upcoming holiday period, history has shown the number of road accidents are numerous. A majority of the road accident victims require blood which the SANBS assist with.

“Chelsea Prep is helping to ensure that the blood reserves are well stocked in preparation of the upcoming holiday period,” she added.

“SANBS is proud and delighted to be partnering with Chelsea Prep on this blood drive initiative. Blood is a precious resource that anyone can give to someone in need. We need your blood, with each donation you can save three lives” Jay Moodley, public relations practitioner for SANBS.
